Use Google Docs and Dropbox together

I recently posted an article called Change Your Favorites to Dropbox. The idea is that you can sync your Internet favorites on multiple computers. This one trick opened my eyes to other possibilities.

I am part of a group, and we use Dropbox to share files with each other. As long as everyone uses Dropbox, sharing files works well, but what happens when someone says, “I use Google Drive,” or, “I use SkyDrive.”

Rather than choose one over the other, I found a pretty cool way to use them together so that, maybe, everyone can be happy. What if you just put the Google Drive folder in Dropbox? Both Google Drive and Dropbox have the option to change the location the folder files are stored in. If you put your Dropbox folder inside of your Google Drive folder or vice versa, you can use them both.

What did I do? I put my local Google Drive folder in my Dropbox folder. So, things added to Google Drive (from web, phone, desktop, etc.) are automatically synced to Dropbox, too.

So now if I am a Dropbox user and my friend uses Google Drive, we can still be friends and share files. I would just invite my friend to use the folder through Google Drive and everyone is happy.
